Royalty and Retail System
The advanced information systems associated with the smart card,
allow you to use loyalty programs as particularly powerful marketing
tools. The introduction of smart cards for retailing activities
has been widely recognized as one of the benefit from reward programs
attracting new customers whilst encouraging loyal customers to
spend more.
It has been demonstrated that loyal customers tend to bring in
new customers, and this can be stimulated using member-get-member
programs. Since your customers are more familiar with your products
and services, it is easier and less time-consuming to serve them.
Electronic Purse
The electronic purse (E-purse) is the next major step forward
in smart card banking transactions. It is a rechargeable or disposable
card containing electronic cash, used as a replacement for coins
and small bills to pay for groceries, transport tickets, parking,
Laundromats, bookshops, libraries, canteens and taxis. It makes
a whole host of everyday transactions with the utmost ease:
- Cards do not require a PIN code, speeding
up transactions even more.
- Quick and easy to use, the inconvenience
of making "small purchases" is obliterated, increasing
small-purchase revenue by up to 20%.
- Security through automatic bank logging
of transactions.
- Lost or stolen cards can be canceled.
- Cost and risk of handling cash drastically
reduced for retailers, cutting overheads and giving cashiers
a greater sense of security.
- Reduced fraud: mutual authentication
between cards and terminals protects both banks and retailers
from fraudulent card use.
- Easily linked to loyalty schemes.
- Instant brand loyalty for the sponsoring
bank.
Several countries are currently implementing nationwide E-purse
schemes while "closed communities", such as college
campuses, are already creating totally cashless societies.
