Lane
Computer Systems (LCS) is the front-end portion of
INTELLECTS.
The Lane Systems Module reside
at the toll lane inside the toll booth. It interacts and controls
all the lane peripherals as the toll transaction is being captured
on a real-time basis. Each transaction is captured and validated
and appropriate corresponding responses is performed and transferred
to Plaza Computer Systems.
Each lane will have its own copy of Lane
Systems Module and each module controls its
own set of peripherals equipment. The user interface to the Lane
Systems Module is via the
Revenue Control Terminal (RCT).
The system is designed to handle manual lane (i.e. accepting
mainly cash as payment, but also voucher & credit card), ETC
lane (electronic payment) or both. In any given time there are
more than twenty processes running concurrently (on a real-time
basis). The feedback from the lane peripherals) such as AVC, ATL
and TIP) are displayed on the RCT.
The toll teller collection operations are carried out via the
RCT.
These operations include the login / logout procedures and the
actual toll collection.
The LCS
and the Lane Systems Module
is designed to operate as a real-time processing terminal. The
systems also perform multi-tasking function to ensure timely transfer
of information from the lane to the Plaza
Computer Systems (PCS) and the Real
Time Information Management Systems (RIMS).

Features
~ Synchronization of operation time with PCS
~ Support 3 different currencies (Default local and two others)
~ Support up to 10 vehicle classes (MHA requires only 5)
~ Built-in security control. Only authorized personnel are allowed
to access the system
~ Immediate "black list" implementation upon receipt
from the Clearing House System
~ Currently captures the following events:

~ Captures and summaries traffic volume on hourly basis. The
hourly traffic is transferred to PCS database
~ Open architecture to allow the integration of ETC
~ Maintenance Module for equipment maintenance. Data generated
from maintenance process is segregated from actual traffic data.
~ Local storage device to ensure data will continue to be stored
in the event of a network failure (communication to PCS)
